Monday's Thought

"The important question is not, what will yield to man a few scattered pleasures, but what will render his life happy on the whole amount."

-- Joseph Addison

Olive has been considering happiness lately, its unexpectedness, elusiveness and sheer mystery. Many, many things give her "a few scattered pleasure." (Lately? The smell of matches just lit). Yet, she wonders. What will offer the most lifelong and satisfactory happiness? Perhaps her readers could share their thoughts!

This quote arrived one happy day in Olive's inbox via the appropriately named blog (and book) The Happiness Project. Thoughtfully and intelligently written, it's well worth a close look.

Love the image you posted!! Beautiful! Happiness...such a hard word to describe. It means different things to each individual. For me; the laugh of a baby; the smell of burning leaves; the smell of the earth during the first rain; the sound of the front door opening at the end of the day ( he is home from work); seeing my grandkids!! I could go on and on. Thank you for sharing "happiness"!

Oh, I quite love that quote; and the picture you've posted to go along with it. I've heard much about "The Happiness Project," but have yet to check it out myself. Off to do that now!! :)
